Obituary

William "Chico" Thomas, age 78, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026. Beloved son of the late John "Bud" and Rose Thomas, husband of 50 years to Virginia "Ginger"; father of Christopher (Ally), Michael (Shannon), and Blasé; grandfather of Claire; and brother of Rita Sassano and the late John "Ninu" Thomas, Catherine Delgreco, and James Thomas.

Chico devoted much of his life to serving others. As a youth minister, he touched the lives of countless young people with his compassion, encouragement, and unwavering faith. His love for young people continued on the baseball field, where he found great joy in coaching and mentoring young athletes. Sports, especially baseball, were one of Chico's greatest passions, and he cherished every opportunity to share his love of the game with others.

Chico had a larger-than-life personality and an uncanny ability to turn an ordinary moment into a memorable story. Whether you knew him for a lifetime or met him only once, Chico was someone you never forgot. His stories, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Chico's life during visitation at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 15220, on Friday, August 7, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 8, at 10:30 AM. Burial Private.
