With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Samuel C. LoVerde, age 95, of Verona, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Pittsburgh on November 29, 1930, he was the beloved son of Joseph and Hazel LoVerde.

Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who dedicated his life to providing love, guidance, and support to his family. Family was the most important part of his life, and his love and wisdom will continue to live on through the generations.

Sam attended Connelley Trade School in Pittsburgh, where he studied electrical and radio training. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 2nd Armored Division, “Hell on Wheels,” attaining the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War era. He was stationed in Baumholder, Germany, where he led a team responsible for repairing and installing communication equipment used by troops in Korea.

After returning home from Germany, Sam worked for the B.D. Lazar Company, where he repaired amusement equipment, jukeboxes, and pinball machines.

Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary “Betty” LoVerde, and his beloved son-in-law, Doug Vizzini. He was also preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Marceline Warner, Stella Buechel, and Joseph LoVerde.

He is survived by his loving children, Joseph LoVerde, Ronald (Lisa) LoVerde, Linda (the late Doug) Vizzini, and Richard (Patricia) LoVerde.

He was the beloved grandfather of Chase (Anna Nowaczyk), Bianca (Josh Surkosky), Valerie (Dan Scalise), Christopher (Antoniette), Garrett (Callen), Emily (Brady Mullis), Maggie (Arie Yoder), Ian (Jennifer), Samantha, and Christian (Lacey).

He was a loving great-grandfather to Gino, Findley, Nicholas, Charli, Nathan, Leo, Gabriel, and Sophia.

He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Sam will be deeply missed by his family and all who knewand loved him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to share his life
