Obituary

It is with the deepest sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Richard "Dick" Adam Ahlborn, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, PA, on Sunday, October 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving and caring family. Dick was born on March 27, 1937, to George and Laura Snyder Ahlborn. He spent his childhood in Middle Churches, PA.

A proud graduate of Hurst High School in 1955, Dick furthered his education at Penn State University, McKeesport Campus, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Arts. His professional journey began at Walworth in Greensburg before he dedicated 50 years of service to Williamhouse, Inc. in various roles, including Plant Manager, Printing Manager, and Administrative Assistant to the General Manager.

In 2009, Dick and his beloved wife, Susan, retired and relocated to Leesburg, Florida. While they were there, they continued to travel both nationally and internationally, as they had always enjoyed. They were also fans of NASCAR and attended many races together at the Daytona International Speedway. Nearly a decade later, Dick and Susan returned to their roots in Mount Pleasant. Throughout his life, Dick found great joy in nurturing his garden, feeding the neighborhood wildlife, and caring for his beloved pets, including his cats, Lily and Rio, as well as his loyal Black Lab, Thor, who accompanied him on many hunting expeditions.

An avid golfer, Dick spent countless sunny days on the golf course alongside his wife, family, and friends. He was also a dedicated member of Reunion Presbyterian Church, proudly serving as a deacon.

Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Susan Wilson Ahlborn; his children, Patricia (Ricky) Cagle and William (Katy) Proud; grandchildren, Brennan Proud, Bethany Proud, Nicole Ruehlen, Stephanie Greene, Christopher Quails, Brittanie McCall, and Kadin Cagle; 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Sandra (Bruce) Anderson, Judith Stinebiser, Mary (Dan) Chedrick, Mina Crusan, Vicki (Tim) McKula, Lou Lopes, and Bob (Shirley) Sofranko.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his siblings, Bill (Lucille) Ahlborn, Ira (Annabelle) Ahlborn, George "Pappy" Ahlborn, Catherine (Ralph) Andrews, June (Sam) Whetzel, Emma (Lou) Lopes, Laura "Snook" Myers, Ruth (Ray) Lessman, and Gertrude (Wilmer) Brown.

Friends and family are welcome for visitation on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Slater Rega Funeral Home, 730 W Main St, Mount Pleasant, PA 15666. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00AM at Slater Rega Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Middle Presbyterian Cemetery.
