Peter Dominick Blue, Sr., 83, of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, September 25, 2026, at Kane Community Living Center in Scott Township.

He was born on March 28, 1943, son of the late Lottie and Peter Blue of Atlasburg, PA. Pete was a 1961 graduate of Union High School in Burgettstown and went on to work for many years as a crane operator at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. A true entrepreneur, he was also the owner of Blue's Tree Service, which remains in the family today. Pete thoroughly enjoyed running the business alongside his wife and cherished the many friendships he made with customers over the years.

On April 11, 1964, Pete married his high school sweetheart, Alice Jean Alvarez Blue. Together, they built a life and shared 50 years of marriage until Alice's passing on June 11, 2014.

Over the years, Pete found his greatest happiness spending time with family and his dogs, coaching Little League baseball, hunting, fishing, and playing cards with friends.

He is survived by his four children: Peter D. Blue, Jr. (Leah) of Burgettstown, Elena M. Smith of Troutman, NC, David B. Blue (Nikki) of Eldersville, and Michael J. Blue (Charlotte) of Slippery Rock; five grandchildren, Bella and Zander Blue, Skyler Smith, Weston and Deacon Blue; and his sister, Dorene Maeger of Medina, Ohio.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Alice, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Pappas.

At Pete's request, private services and interment at Grandview Cemetery in Florence were held for his immediate family, under the direction of Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., of Burgettstown.
