Nellie A. Fenton, age 97, passed away October 25, 2026, at Hillside Manor of Uniontown. Born December 13, 1928, daughter of the late Wilkus and Stella (Meyers) McConnell.

Nellie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Joy Covenant Brethan Church, Mt. Pleasant, where she was active in her role as a deaconess.

In her early years, she worked at Vargo cleaners in Mt. Pleasant and later in the dietary division at Frick Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter Sally A. Sherrick, of Connellsville, grandmother to Barb Skarzenski(Joshua), of Dunbar, Robert L. Sherrick, Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; great grandmother to Sebastian Skarzenski (Natalee), of Mill Run, Preston Sherrick and Parker Sherrick, both of Norvelt. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene Fenton in 2010, infant daughter Beverly Jean Fenton; Sister Delores Miller; brothers Russell McConnell, Lowell Wayne McConnell, and Glenn McConnell, and son in law Robert L. Sherrick, Sr.

Family and friends will be received at the Slater REGA Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant Thursday from 2-8pm. Additional viewing will be Friday from 10am until time of service at Mt. Joy Covenant Brethren Church 494 East Main Street Mt. Pleasant, Pa. where services will be held with Pastor P.V. Lee Smith officiating. Burial will be held in church cemetery.
