NANCY GILLESPIE HANNA

Our beloved mother Nancy, of Bethel Park, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday July 23, 2026. Born in McDonald to the late Emma Dhans and George Gillespie on August 7, 1937, Nancy was the sister of George (Florence) Gillespie of Oakdale and the late Patricia Gillespie. She was the devoted wife of Jerry Hanna, who passed away in 1987, and is survived by their four children Patricia Wattick (Joseph) of Canonsburg, Michael (Deborah) of Gibsonia, Matthew (Lisa) of Bentonville, AR and Mark of Bethel Park; eight grandchildren; John (Jamie), Sarah (Evan), Julia (Brian), Mary (Kaden), Rachel (Bess), Katherine (Alex), Natalie and Beatrice and six great-grandchildren; Emma, Jack, Arlo, Rosie, Ezra and Luca. Nancy was well known for her love of cooking and baking, especially the cheesy potatoes, dinner rolls and cinnamon bread she made while managing the cafeteria at Holy Trinity School in Robinson Township. Nancy earned both an Associate Degree in Food Service Management from CCAC in 1988 and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Carlow University in 2002, working as a Pastoral Minister at Vincentian DeMarillac until her retirement. She filled her years in retirement at St. Thomas More Manor by volunteering and working in the kitchen and as a receptionist at St. Thomas More Church and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing a basketball game. Nancy will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Nancy was a woman of deep faith who passed that wonderful gift on to her children and grandchildren by example through living a life of service to others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, Resurrection Parish 126 Fort Couch Road Pittsburgh, PA 15241 at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 29, 2026, Reverend Kenneth White presiding. A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will follow in the St. Thomas More Family Life Center.
