Celebrating the Life of Julia (Jean) Lanick

Julia, age 99, passed away September 20, 2026, at Asbury Place in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

She was born June 16,1927, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Julia and Andrew Maturcanik.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Lanick and sisters: Ann, Susan, Mary, Elizabeth and Helen.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Staub (Charles) and Karen Reif (Edward), and a grandson Steven Reif (Katie).

A devoted and faithful member of the Orthodox Church, Julia's spirituality and commitment to her faith played a central role in her life. Her daughters and grandson were also the heart of Julia's world. Her unwavering love and support for them and her family were a cornerstone of her existence.

A funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 123 Gilkeson Road, Pittsburgh PA on Thursday September 24 , 2026, at 11:00 am with visitation with family before the service at the church beginning at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Julia to Holy Cross Monastery, 505 Holy Cross Road, Wayne WV 25570.
