Joyce Ann (Piccin) Schlag, 83, of Bethel Park, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, went to be with our Lord on October 8, 2026. Joyce was the daughter of Anthony and Veronica (Korpon) Piccin, of Bridgeport, OH.
Joyce graduated from St. John's Central Catholic High School, Wheeling Jesuit College, and the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her master's in social work. She worked in a variety of settings as a social worker across the Pittsburgh area. As an avid gardener, she grew a wide assortment of flowers, fruits, herbs, and vegetables in her gardens. She was also a member of the Ballfield Farm Community Garden and the Greentree Garden club. She loved to go to Phipps Conservatory. Her many forms of service to her community included political advocacy, teaching English as a second language to immigrants, volunteering with the Friends of the Carnegie Library, and planning/making weekly meals for the unhoused. She had made many friends along the way.
Joyce is survived by her son, Joseph Schlag (Heidi) of Frederick, MD, brother Philip Piccin, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her husband, William Frederick Schlag, brother, Wayne Piccin and his wife Mary (Contrera) Piccin, sister-in-law Betty (Old, Clemons) Piccin, and niece, Kimberly Piccin-Stiava.
Friends will be received on Tuesday October 13, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Pgh, 15220, (412)-563-2800. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday October 14, 2026, 10AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Church- St. Raphael the Archangel Parish. Burial will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1685 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
