Obituary

Jeanene Ann Hughes, 50, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 4, 2026. She was born on April 21, 1976 in Pittsburgh.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years Thomas Hughes; daughter, Alexis (Shawn Finch) Hughes; sisters, Christy Ambler and Barbie Burysek; grandchildren, Carina Walter and Kayson Finch.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Hughes.

Jeanene found her greatest joy at the beach, where the sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun brought her peace and happiness. Whether she was walking along the shoreline or simply soaking in the ocean breeze, the beach was her favorite place to be.

She was a devoted dog mom to her beloved companions, Keely and Zelly, who were more than pets—they were family. They brought her endless comfort, laughter, and unconditional love, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Above all, Jeanene treasured her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with them, celebrating their accomplishments, and making memories they will carry with them forever. Her love for them was boundless, and they will always hold a special place in the legacy she leaves behind.

A true movie enthusiast, Jeanene had an incredible talent for weaving movie quotes into everyday conversations. No matter the occasion, she seemed to have the perfect line ready, often bringing smiles, laughter, and a shared sense of nostalgia to those around her. Her love of film was matched only by her love of music.

Jeanene never missed an opportunity to grab a microphone and sing karaoke. Her signature song, I Love Rock 'n Roll, was a favorite, and she performed it with infectious energy and enthusiasm that encouraged everyone around her to join in the fun. She reminded us that life was meant to be celebrated, one song at a time.

Jeanene will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her sense of humor, her unwavering love for her grandchildren, family, and friends, and her ability to make ordinary moments unforgettable. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 2-8pm at Wm. Slater & Sons, 301 Virginia Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15211. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11:00am in the funeral home.
