Gregory Paul Sembrat

May 25, 1947-November 2, 2026

Greg was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend, educator, and community leader.

Brothers Big Sisters, for which he donated Pittsburgh Steelers tickets each year.

He served as Treasurer of the Sto-Rox teacher’s union and was President of the Ukrainian American Citizens Club in Carnegie, where he was a member for over 60 years.

Greg dedicated 50 years to teaching, including 35 years at Sto-Rox and 15 years as a substitute teacher at Bethel Park. He also spent 50 years as an umpire and official, serving in football, baseball, wrestling, softball, and volleyball.

A proud graduate of Carnegie High School, he received a football scholarship to Rutgers University. At Rutgers he was the steward at his fraternity, Delta Kappa Epsilon.

A proud alumnus, he looked forward to supporting the Scarlet Knights on an annual trip with his family.

He appreciated the simple pleasures of life, including polka music, a good cigar, and reading the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Wendy (Freas) Sembrat, former wife Peggy (Roseberry) Sembrat, children Wendy Marie (Philip), Joseph (Gaby), Michael (Jenn Dalby), John (Mandy), Nicholas (Morgan) and his beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Luke, Kacey, and Gabriel Steiner, Aubrey Dalby, Cameron Sembrat, and Gideon Sembrat as well as his great-grandchild Theodore Garcia-Steiner.
