Evelyn L.
Weaver
Jan 23, 1944 — Aug 20, 2026
Scott Twp.
Evelyn L. Weaver of Green Tree passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, age 82. Born on January 23, 1944, Evelyn was the youngest of Frank and Rose Henry’s five children; she grew up in the South Hills area and graduated from Carnegie High School. She met her husband, John D. Weaver Jr., while working as a bookkeeper at Pittsburgh Builders Exchange. She and John owned and operated CAFF Company, a custom window framing business, for more than thirty years. Evelyn was active in her community, serving as a member of the Keystone Oaks School Board from 1995 to 2011 and as a frequent election worker at the Green Tree polls.
An avid gardener, she was a twenty-year member of the Green Tree Garden Club and spent countless hours on her flower beds every spring and summer. She loved animals and always owned a cat (or two) and/or a dog, and over the years, her menagerie of less traditional pets included a rescued wild sparrow, two ducks, quail, multiple “office” cats, and a ferret. Her talent as an artist was expressed through oil painting and refinishing vintage furniture, and her enthusiasm for household DIY projects led her to become a certified plumber later in life.
Evelyn was the cherished mother of Donald Urbanic (Beth Ann Rosica), Carrie Urbanic (Aaron Highfill), J. Matthew Weaver, and Cassandra (Kevin) Happe and stepmother of Kirk Weaver and Stephen (Mary Ann) Weaver. She was the loving “grammy” of Dinah, Violet, Gus, Penelope, Marco, Luca, Michael, Adam (Bethany), Christopher, and Kaitlin and great-grandma to Jack and Zoey. She is survived by her sister, Patricia (Don) Pettigrew, and by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers Richard, Russell, and David Henry.
Arrangements entrusted to WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd. Scott Twp., 15220. (412) 563 - 2800. A private celebration of life will be held on August 28.
