Daniel William Will, age 91, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in the early hours of September 27, 2026.

He was born on February 8, 1935, to the late Philip and Beatrice Will. He grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, attended Fenwick High School, and later went on to Purdue University, where he earned his engineering degree, and more importantly, met his beloved wife, Rita, whom he cherished for over 58 years. Daniel was known by those around him for his dedication to his family. An avid golfer and a forever Steeler and Pirate fan, he was a friend to many.

After his career in visual communications at Westinghouse, he took on new roles. He invested in an authentic Santa suit and played the part to perfection for all the children and grandchildren of friends and neighbors on Ordale Boulevard on every Christmas for many years. A grill master, he got ALL the credit (sorry, Grandmom) for the world’s-best “Papa’s Burgers.” He was an avid and knowledgeable Pittsburgh tour guide (“Not more ships, more tonnage!”) for each and every out-of-towner who came to visit. An adept handyman, he took on home improvements not only on 75 Ordale, but in Colorado and California, his language as colorful as the paint on his refurbished walls. A man of great faith, he was active as a lector at St. Thomas More Church, and in his latter days, watched Mass on television daily.

Now peacefully reunited with Rita, he is survived by his three loving daughters, Barbara O'Neil, Beth Higgins, Maria Will, and his favorite son-in-law, Mark Higgins. He was the proud grandfather of Liam O'Neil, Patrick O'Neil, Nora O'Neil, Conor Higgins, and Clare Thomason and her husband Joe. He was also the cherished great-grandfather of Violet Higgins, John Thomason, Mary Thomason, and Ginny Thomason. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Marge Will, Dolores Carlson, and Evelyn Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Beatrice; his wife Rita, and his brother, David Will.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Affinity Care Hospice and the staff at Genesis HealthCare in Bridgeville, PA, for their exceptional and compassionate care. A very special thank you goes to his dedicated nurses, Greg, Tiffany, Sue, and Angela, as well as his aides, Chan, Jodie, Angelina, and Stacey, for the incredible kindness and comfort they provided.

Also, a most appreciative thanks to Dan’s daughter Maria, who cared for and accompanied her father for the last ten years after the passing of his wife.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Freyvogel Slater Funeral Directors, 112 Fort Couch Rd, Bethel Park, 15241. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM, St. Thomas More Church, Resurrection Parish in Bethel Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Smile Train.
