Obituary

Charlotte Pintar Wos, 97, of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon September 7, 2026 at Harmony at Diamond Ridge, Moon Twp. Where she had been a resident since October 2025.

She was born on March 13, 1929 in Cleveland, OH a daughter of the late Molly McGovern and adopted at birth and raised by her parents John and Josephine Pintar.

After graduating from the Union High School in Burgettstown, she earned her registered nursing degree from Duquesne University and started her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. While starting her family and raising her children, she earned her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She then returned to nursing and served as the school nurse for the Burgettstown Area School District where she retired at the age of 65 and continued to serve as needed as a substitute nurse until the age of 90.

A devout catholic and active parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Burgettstown, she played the organ from the time she was in 6th grade until she was 90 in Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Ann's Church in Bulger where she also sang as a soloist and a member of the choir.

On May 22, 1954, she married Joseph A. Wos, Jr. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Together for 50 years they enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren until his passing on May 11, 2004.

Charlotte is survived by her two children, Gary David Wos of Burgettstown and Sheila Maureen Fernau (Lou Ciccone) of Moon Twp.; grandchildren Harrison Joseph Wos of Irvine, CA , Alana Montgomery and husband Jim of Imperial, Joey Fernau of Moon Twp., Erika Fernau (Andrew Velkoff) who is currently attending Drexel Medical School in Philadelphia, Olivia Fernau of San Francisco, CA, Myles Fernau who is currently attending the University of Pittsburgh, Theresa Fernau; and a brother John McGovern and wife Terri of Denver, CO.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son Joseph Alan "Jody" Wos III and her dear friend Joe Pribicin, who gave her many years of companionship after the passing of her husband.


Family and friends will be received from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday September 11, 2026 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where Departing Prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday September 12, 2026 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Harry Bielewicz at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, 1109 Main Street in Burgettstown. She will be laid to rest with her husband and son in the church cemetery.
